First stop is ancient Korinthos, an important city-state of ancient Peloponissos with a major natural control site of the isthmus being also the most important centre of the ancient world. It was considered to be the wealthiest in ancient times. Second stop is the temple of Apollo archair temple built of 40 monolithic Dorian columns with only seven of them maintained over the ruins of the ancient market. Next stop is Akrokorinthos, a steep rock 575m. high which because of its morphology, used to be a viewport (Acropolis) in ancient times in case of a raid either from central Greece or from the sea. Last stop-after previous arrangement because of back of time- is Loutraki, a resort famous for its thermal springs where you can enjoy your meal and also enjoy a walk around the town. Leaving Athens and crossing the eastern side of Attica, we reach Marathon which constitutes an exceptional natural landscape with a rich green fertile plain and an artificial lake that collects water for the water supply of Athens. It has a heavy historical and cultural past as it is the place that gave birth to the marathon race and what is more, it is the site of the glorious victory of the Athenians in 490B.C. We can stop for coffee while enjoying the breathtaking view of the lake and also you can walk across the dam made of the Pentelic marble just like the one used for the Parthenon. Departure from the point of your choice. The coastal route to the northeastern edge of Attiki with our destination being the cape of Sounio, is considered to be one of the most beautiful ones. It is about 70 kilometers far from Athens and on its rocky steep coast rises the temple of Poseidon. Its panoramic view indicates that the ancient Athenians knew very well how to built their temples. It was built during the classical period between 444B.C. and 440B.C. and it is thought to be a sacred place, especially for sailors. There have been maintained two sketches of the eastern side and several columns on the eastern part while on the western part, they were destroyed during the foundation. The charm of the landscape is impressive especially at the sunset, giving you the chance to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets of your life, when the colours of nature decorate the temple and offer a panoramic view of the nearby islands coastline and even of the mountains in Peloponissos. We start our tour from the Greek parliament the old place of king Othon situated in Syntagma Square. There stands the monument of the Unknown Soldier in honour of the fallen in the wars. It is guarded 24hours a day by the president Guard dressed in traditional costumes. They perfom a change of guard every hour with a tough pace. Next stop is the presidential palace – the residence of the president of the Republic and the old royal palace of the Greeks. We go on with Kallimarmaro Stadium or else, the Panathenaic Stadium which is the oldest stadium in operation of the world where the Olympic Games have been held three times. Our next stop is the pillars of Olympian Zeus or the temple of Olympian Zeus, an outdoor ancient temple of Athens. It used to have 104columns of Corinthian rhythm of which only 15 have been saved. We head to Lycabettus, the highest point of the city, offering a breathtaking view of the whole of Athens. Descending, we pass by the Athens trilogy which is the National Library, the first University of Athens and the Academy of Athens, all buildings of a special architecture. Next stop is the Acropolis, the rocky hill with the temple dedicated to Athena Palace on the oneside and to the Poseidon on the other side, the Erechtheion and the famous Karyatidis, the Parthenon, the brilliant Propylaea. There we will visit the Acropolis Museum focused on findings from the Acropolis. We finish the ride in Plaka, an old picturesque quarter of Athens, with traditional shops and tanerns. Departure from the point of your choice. First stop is the Isthmus of Korinthos, a narrow trip of land (about 6km long) which unites the Saronic gulf with the Corinthian Bay. Second stop is Mycenae, one of the greatest centers of the Greek culture, which constitutes a powerful military fortress that used to dominate most of Southern Greece (world heritage site UNESCO). Third stop is Nafplio, the capital of Argolida and one of the most picturesque towns in Greece of unspoiled architecture and with a neoclassical character. It was the capital of Greece during the period 1828-1833. There we can visit Bourtzi, a small fortress built on an islet at the port of the city and Palamidi, a venetian fortress that dominates the top of the town with 999stairs to climb. In the end, we can visit the town centre and taste traditional food at picturesque small towns. Last stop is Epidaurus, the historical town of Argolida, built at the foot of Mount Arachnoe and famous for its ancient theatre which was built in 340B.C. with a capacity of 130.000viewers. There is the golden ivory statue of Zeus, of Pheidia known in antiquity as one of the 7 wonders of the world. It is a UNESCO world Heritage site. A city known in world history for its military force, the discipline, the heroism and the great number of slaves. It is also known in Greek mythology for the myth of beautiful Helen. Its military force is thanks to the Treatment system which was imposed by the law of Lykourgos (unique in Ancient Greece). We continue our route with a final destination the monastery of Monemvasia, known for the medieval fortress on the homonymous Rock of Monenvasia which is literally a small islet which is connected with a bridge in a formed neck of 400m to the current beach. It is built on a limestone rock with a maximum height of 198.50m. The town is full of stone stairs, fairytale houses, arches and churches, nothing of which you will see a rent cultures. First stop is Delfi is the place where it was established and flourished the greatest religious centre of ancient times. In 1987 Delfi was awarded the title of a monument of Unesco. It is situated on the northern slopes of Mount Parnassos. You can explore the archaeological site, the Krystalia Fountain (a sacred fountain where Pythia used to wash herself), the Dorne of the Athena of Prenica and the Athenian treasure the temple of Apollo (the most important monument which dominates the centre of the area), the Holy Road, the stadium of Delfi, the ancient theatre and museum as well. Next stop is Arahova an important, cosmopolitan winter destination ideal for nature lovers and also for those who love good traditional food. There you can explore the picturesque traditional alleys of the town and enjoy your lunch. Next stop is the monastery of St.Luke which is built at an attitude of 430m. on the slope of Mount Elikonas and it is surrounded by a plateau covered by an alive grove. It is one of the greatest monuments of the middle-Byzantine art and architecture and it is included in the list of world heritage sites of Unesco. Last stop is the town of Levadia. It is built on the western edge of the valley of Kopaida and it is flown through by the river Erkyna. Its picturesque neighborhoods nad the old houses catch your eye as well as the stone bridges at the springs of Krya, offer a lovely natural landscape with evergreen plane trees natural waterfalls and windmills. You can visit the Byzantine Castle, the Oracle (an underground stone building) the stone Theatre and the Clock. Departure from the point of your choice. On the way to Meteora, a place famous for its natural beauty and its monasteries situated on the edge, you will be impressed by the wonderful journey. Meteora consists a complex of huge dark sandstone rocks which rise above Kalampaka (list of world heritage sites of UNESCO). The average attitude is 313m. The formation of its geological landscape, has at times occupied some geologists however, it hasn’t been clarified. It is remarkable that it has not been mentioned in the Greek Mythology by Ancient Greeks or by foreign historians. This wild and inaccessible landscape has been an offerable space for the Christian eremites who settled there according to the Byzantinologists of the eleventh century. There are six monasteries worth visiting. The Kastraki village which has been marked as a preservable traditional settlement, is suitable for wondering around.
